Purdue vs UConn Betting Pick and Prediction for 04/08/2024

After 3 weeks of intense online basketball betting action, the NCAA Basketball Championship game is finally here. Tonight, we find out who will become the 2024 Champion of College Basketball as the Purdue Boilermakers take on the Connecticut Huskies. Will UConn successfully defend their title or will Purdue become the March Madness king? Here is my professional handicapping take on it with my Purdue vs UConn Betting and analysis.

As expected, UConn, is once again the favorite team to bet on with a -285 moneyline and a +6.5 pointspread. They made it this far by defeating Alabama 87-74 last Saturday and covered the 10.5 point spread. On the other hand, Purdue took down NC State, 63-50 and put an end to the Cinderella team. However, do they have what it takes to become the new champions?

According to Pay Per Head Bookie game data, Purdue had to defeat Grambling, Utah State, Gonzaga, Tennessee and NC State to make it to the Championship game. Zach Edey is their leading scorer averaging 25 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. In addition, the Boilermakers’ second leading scorer is Braden Smith averaging 12.2 points and 7.5 assists per game. Last but not least, Purdue has four players that average double figures in scoring.

As a team Purdue is scoring an average of 83.4 points per game, shooting 48.8% overall and 40.8% outside the 3-point line.

Then, we have the Connecticut Huskies who have been the top team for this year’s March Madness tournament. So far, they have not been disappointing anyone and have a good chance of becoming back-to-back NCAA Basketball champions. A feat that has not been done since Florida back in 2006 and 2007.

Considering the current lineup for UConn, it is a strong possibility with Tristen Newton leading the pack. In total, they have 5 players that average in the double figures per game. In addition, the have a team scoring average above 81.5 points per game while shooting 49.6% overall and 36.7% from the 3-point territory.

 Purdue vs UConn Betting Pick

Bet on the Purdue Boilermakers at +6.5

The best college basketball betting strategy would be to not bet on the money line. Instead, the best bet will be to bet on the point spread for the best value. This is because Purdue will not go down easily as they are looking to win their first NCAA Championship title. They made it this far by defeating some tough team and have a slight chance of winning. However, I expect UConn to win but not cover the spread with a final score of 74-70.

2024 March Madness Betting Update

Selection Sunday is over and the 68 college basketball teams have been chosen. The 68 teams are made up of 32 Division I Conference tournament winners and 36 teams chosen by the selection committee. However, before the first round of March Madness can begin, the First Play-in Round will begin tomorrow. In my 2024 march Madness Betting Update, there is a lot of stuff to talk about so let’s get begin!

Possible Cinderella Teams

Everyone likes a good upset so I’m gonna start with my top matchups for upsets

Samford (13) vs Kansas (4) – Samford has a hell of a head coach with Bucky Mcmilan with now 4 seasons under his belt. Despite starting the job as a high school coach, he has been the Southern Conference’s coach of the year for 3 straight years. This is their first time in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament since 2000 and it. Why do I think they can become a Cinderella Team? According to Bookie Pay Per head info, they are hitting at a 39.3% on 3 pointers ranking 8th in the nation and that could make the difference.

Oregon (11) vs South Carolina (6) – I know that this is not a long shot but it could still become an underdog winning story. Once again, my reason is because they got a great head coach. Dana Altman has shown over and over that he can turn a game around. The last 3 times the Ducks were in March madness, they have made it to round 2.

Charleston (13) vs Alabama (4)

The last time Charleston made the tournament was 2 years ago and this year, they are back. They are a complete underdog but no one is commenting having won their last 12 games. The nations’ second-longest winning streak in college basketball! While this is just emotion, the kicker I that they have pat Kelsey coaching them and if anyone can turn things around, it him. The bookies have Charleston at =9.5 spread which is too high. So if you are thinking about becoming a bookie, these would be the lines to watch carefully.

March Madness Sports Handicapping

Its March Madness Sports Handicapping time again because we are only a day away from the hottest NCAA sports tournament. This year, the winning teams are more less as expected according to this March Madness Sports Handicapper.

he top 3 teams that will win the whole shabang this March Madness season according to the best sports handicapping dude(that would be me) are as followed:

Marquette Golden Eagles - This is the underdog that is on fire. With 8 wins in a row, the Golden Eagleswant that title and are all pumped up for it.

Even though they are ranked #14 in the country, they do have 3 strong players that average over 15 points per game. Its a long shot but its well worth risking a few bucks on that team.

Georgetown Hoyas - The mighty Hoyas have had some tough competition but they still managed to take the #6 spot in RPI. They have a strong solid team with a coach that has some battle experience in March Madness Playoff this team is one to lookout for.

Oklahoma Sooners - Even though basketball is a team sports, Blake Griffin averages 22 points per game along with a whopping 13 rebounds per game. Combined with Austin Johnson this team has got the players to make it to the end.

The Sooners are my top pick but they will definitely make it to the Final Four.
